Een persoonlijk verhaal vol symboliek

In dit schilderij verweef ik mijn persoonlijke groei met de ruige schoonheid van de Highlands. Tijdens het werken overleed mijn trouwe hond Brandy; zijn verstilde blik over de horizon gaf het werk een emotionele wending en een diepere betekenis.

Ik gebruik krachtige symbolen om mijn proces te duiden:
de Afnemende Halve Maan markeert het einde van een cyclus, terwijl de kosmische 'kus' tussen Venus en Jupiter voor mij staat voor balans en nieuwe vruchtbaarheid. Binnenin temt de jonkvrouw de eenhoorn: een beeld van puur vertrouwen en de kracht van ware liefde.

Met details zoals de vlinder op de Schotse distel en de leeuw op het sierkussen eer ik mijn Schotse roots. Het roodoranje licht door het raam is mijn centrale boodschap: ondanks alles is er altijd een doorkijk naar een wereld vol liefde en hoop.

A personal journey in symbolism

In this painting, I weave my personal growth together with the rugged beauty of the Highlands. During its creation, I lost my loyal dog Brandy; his quiet gaze across the horizon gave the work a new emotional direction and a deeper meaning.

I use powerful symbols to define my journey: the Waning Crescent Moon marks the end of a cycle, while the cosmic 'kiss' between Venus and Jupiter represents balance and new fertility to me. Inside, the maiden tames the unicorn—a reflection of pure trust and the power of true love.

With details like the butterfly on the Scottish thistle and the lion on the cushion, I honor my Scottish roots. The orange-red light through the window carries my central message: despite everything, there is always a glimpse into a world filled with love and hope.​​
