"In dit portret heb ik een heel bijzondere bewoner van de Kennemerduinen
vastgelegd. Voor de opdrachtgever is dit dier een bekende verschijning; hij loopt letterlijk in hun achtertuin. Door deze Schotse Hooglander te schilderen, wilde ik de grens tussen binnen en buiten laten vervagen.

Wat mij fascineerde, was de combinatie van zijn robuuste kracht en de zachte, bijna aaibare witte vacht. Ik heb geprobeerd om die rust die het dier uitstraalt te vangen in een atmosferisch beeld, zodat de kijker, net als de bewoners, elke dag even oog in oog kan staan met de wildernis van de duinen."

"In this portrait, I have captured a very special resident of the Kennemer Dunes. To the client, this animal is a familiar face; he literally wanders through their backyard. By painting this Highland Cow, I wanted to blur the line between the interior and the wild landscape outside.

I was fascinated by the combination of his robust strength and his soft, almost tactile white coat. I sought to capture the profound sense of calm that he radiates within an atmospheric setting, allowing the viewer to stand eye-to-eye with the wilderness of the dunes."
